Really nice atmosphere, cute place. Food was a bit spicy (well... That's expect I imagine) but good and nicely presented
This place is the best Mexican food I’ve had in Japan so far! The chef learned cooking in Mexico so the food tastes really good! Good service and not super spicy but still gets into your heart to warm you up! Awesome!
Excellent service and friendliness! Very accommodating for vegetarians and even have their own veg menu. Food reminded me of home in Southern California!
Another great mexican restaurant! Good prices with amazing tast and quality.
Really good food. I had the nachos and shrimp cheese tacos. Small cute place on a Kyoto side alley and the server was super nice.
Cute little restaurant that fits around 20 people, and is really popular amongst tourists and locals, so you should probably order a table in advance. The food was great, but the dishes were a little small, so you should order more than one dish. The staff was excellent. If you're in Kyoto, you should definitely come here!
Good food, small place, nice environment, friendly service
WOW!!!!! I have eaten a lot of good Mexican food in the USA and in Mexico but this small restaurant in Kyoto Japan just blew me away! I normally don’t order enchiladas as most restaurants make them rather bland. Not here! These were beyond authentic! The sauce the chef/owner creates is outstanding! And the chicken inside was made to perfection! And his tomatillo sauce for the homemade tortilla chips surpassed any that I’ve had in the US. These guys know what they are doing!!! If you need a break from all the wonderful Japanese food you’ve been eating by all means try this place. I could only give it 5 stars but it really deserves 6!!! THIS IS AUTHENTIC TOP OF THE LINE MEXICAN FOOD!!!!!!!!!
Good was super tasty delicious staff very friendly . Wishing they get more positive reviews get better food presentation
This is a quaint little Mexican restaurant in a small alleyway near Shijo. The restaurant was recommended by a Mexican friend and it did not disappoint! Soft Tacos are the best! Their nachos are homemade and fresh and the spices are legit spicy. The staff are kind and the service was good. English is ok too!
Delicious and authentic Mexican food. Staff are friendly and can help in English. The place itself is super cool, cozy and well decorated.
The only thing good was the quesadilla
As soon as you walk in you're hit with a chacha line of spices. The aroma is enough to fill you. The decorations have a dia de los muertos, coco and nacho libre vibe. The food is filled with so much flavor and spices. My only suggestion is to have a spice level. If you don't like spicy make sure u let them knw before hand. But all in all, it was a good piece of Mexico in Japan.
We went here on a whim, after 10 days of traditional japanese food. I was positively surprised. Got here around 18 o'clock and got seats in the bar. The place is very very tiny but charming, colorful and with lots of fun mexican themed decorations. The food was tasty and we were impressed to hear the chef had been for a year in Mexico. The drinks came a bit slow but the place was packed and the staff were so nice that we didn't mind. The drinks were also very good. Later edit: We went again one day later because we loved the atmosphere and the food so much. Loved the Cactus salad and the Avocado cheesecake and had a nice chat with the owner.
Blink and you will miss this place, it’s that tiny. But the food is absolutely delicious and is enjoyable in its own right. I’m not a huge fan of authenticity for authenticity sake, so if that’s the experience you’re looking for, this place will be about par with every other Mexican restaurant in Japan. But if you want delicious Mexican flavours, good food and a cute restaurant, this is the place!
Tasty but pricey
What a great and tasty place, Im Mexican and the flavors were legit. The environment make me feel in Mexico, the staff is very friendly.
Not a fan of the price and size of dish proportion. Need bigger sized dish. Tasted good and the spicy beef taco was a good spice. Loved the chips for the gaucomole.
Great little Mexican place!! Really friendly staff, fun drinks and good authentic food. We had the nachos, burrito and chicken taco- all I would recommend. A good break from Japanese food after travelling for awhile
Had a variety of tacos and the homemade chips and guacamole and we are still thinking about how good it all was today. Restaurant is cute and cosy especially on a rainy Kyoto evening, cocktails were generous. Really loved the food, the staff and whole atmosphere of this place.
I’m from California and needed a reprise from Japanese. Thankfully we found this spot. We only tried the tacos but they were excellent. Soup and guacamole were also great. Definitely recommend!
This spot exceeded our expectations! Tacos, burritos, quesadilla were all excellent. Ceviche was outstanding and my husband loved his margarita. We had the avocado cheesecake and flan for dessert. Staff was so kind and helpful. Do not miss Cocina Oralé!!
Everything we ordered was super juicy and good. Nachos, tacos, soup and even lemonada were amazing! We will definitely come back.
What an awesome place. The atmosphere is amazing and staff friendly and welcoming.
Tacos so good they made my wife cry....Seriously, this is the best Mexican food you're going to find in Kyoto. Super staff, cozy atmosphere, and the freshest ingredients. I highly recommend going here when you're in Kyoto and you will not be disappointed.10/10, 5 stars, brilliant.
Nice food & sweet staff. I really enjoyed my dinner here!
I love This place so much. We come to Kyoto at least once a year and always stop here during our travels. We get several platters of their delicious tacos. Talk about a great meal after walking all day! Highly recommend this place. The tacos are amazing! Shrimp, chicken, beef, pork, and beans for those who don’t want meat. Ceviche and guacamole are also delish!
Very good food, spicey dinner and sweet dessert
Tasted like real Mexican food. Very delicious.
A cozy but authentic restaurant with vegetarian options (but limited vegan options), everything made in-house daily. Good volume, from 1000-1300 yen, a great value and splendid variety. The chef speaks Spanish and lived in Mexico, granting him insight into how to do things right. The dinner menu looks stellar. I will come again and again.
Excellent nachos. Fajitas were decent but they layered the chicken on top of French fries which I've never seen before. I would rather do without. Only came with two tortillas. Portions are small for the prices.
Overall the food was tasty, but very expensive for the portions that are given. It’s a super tiny restaurant so keep that in mind although it was pretty empty on a Sunday evening!
Always on point. The chef/owner spent a long time cooking while in Mexico. The dude knows his stuff. 👍
Delicious, festive, and affordable! This restaurant was a nice break from daily Japanese food. Note that this place is cash only.
I guess I should get a taco tattoo because I want to think about these tacos forever. Then when I die and mummification is re-legalized, people will forever gaze upon my lifeless husk where a beautiful human once stood, and be reminded that they too like, nay, love tacos and will likely follow my lead by getting a wicked taco tattoo. Unfortunately, they won't get the spirit of the festive ink and use it as a gang sign in the coming resource wars. They will unlikely know the love and patience that went into each and every tortilla. Shame really.Highly recommended!!!
Mexican restaurant in centre of Kyoto, with very tasty food and fantastic staff. We had the enchilada, quesidilla, burritos, nachos and taco, all great. For dessert we had the mexican style pudding and avocado cheese cake, both extremely tasteful.
Very nice cosy Mexican restaurant with beautiful Mexican scenery. The staff is very nice and friendly. The food was great and really delicious! The nachos were perfect, better than back in Holland. We loved it!!!Unfortunately we had very rude Indian people without respect for the staff next to us, but when they were gone the atmosphere was restored immediately.
Very good place in Kyoto. One of the best Mexican Food 👌
I loved this little Mexican place. The portion sizes were smaller than the US, but the flavors were outstanding! I absolutely loved the mole enchilada! The owners were amazingly friendly. Definitely worth a visit (or two!)!
Being from Mexico, I can whole heartily say that the food was absolutely delicious! Everything our group (including one vegetarian) tried was amazing! The owners spoke Spanish and their adorable little restaurant and the food showed their appreciation for Mexican culture. Blown away to find a place this good in Japan. Must stop if your craving some Mexican food! Vegetarian menus available for any veggies out there.
So I am completely into this place's burritos, but the real hidden treasure is the hot sauce. They sell it for like a couple hundred yen a bottle, and you have to try this stuff, it's amazing. Treat it with respect. Buy a bunch.
If you are looking for a Mexican taste, look no further! The food is great, but not cheap at all. I recommend going in for a snack.Complimentary chips and salsa is only an American delicacy I suppose (tears)
Been here many times. It’s my favorite Mexican restaurant in Asia. And better than a lot of the Mexican restaurant in the Us, in my opinion.Lunch menu is cheaper but a bit limited.Had the ramen today... light and tasty! But my favorite is still the quesadillas!
Friendly staff and a great vibe. The food was really good too however the serving sizes are much smaller compared to other Mexican restaurants.
Great Food. Super friendly people. The owner is the chef who was in mexico before opening this place. Super homemade type nachos. Kumi helped us select a good choice from the menu for dinner.Great Vegeteranian food available. Value for money.....will surely come back again...
Really good American style Mexican food!!! If you get sick of ramen and Wagyu I would definitely recommend this place.
Good food, felt home made, spicy and enjoyable. Sitting behind the counter make you feel being observed sometimes
When I went in to this restaurant it made my heart warm up. The place was decorated with a lot of cute Mexican stuff like papel picado (paper that has been cut/"pecked paper") and colorful posters with Hispanic music playing in the background. I got nachos and I was happy to eat them! The nachos were around 900円. I got to speak to one of the waiters and it turned out she went to Mexico! I'm Mexican and I can say you should visit the restaurant!!
Amazing! Authentic and delicious Mexican food in the heart of Kyoto. Highly recommended!
Perfect! We had an amazing meal here and the food is delicious and well worth the price . The restaurant is small but packs in a great atmosphere with decoration and style. The service was very good and waiters were very helpful and spoke great English. We had fajitas and burritos as well as dessert off the menu which was very good and gave options for all. Would recommend to anyone nearby.
